Company Overview
Kratom Country is an eCommerce business offering high-quality kratom products. The brand caters to a loyal customer base with a focus on natural wellness. The website was built on Magento 2 and integrated with several third-party tools.
Problem / Challenge
The Magento 2 website was increasingly difficult to maintain. The backend was complex, integrations were fragile, and marketing efforts were constrained by platform limitations.
There was also urgency. Magento performance issues were surfacing early in March, and the internal team was struggling to make timely updates. A fast, high-quality migration was critical.
Solution
SilverPonies proposed a 5-week migration plan, which was accepted.
In practice, we achieved the migration in 2 weeks and completed the migration on the 22nd of March. This was a huge success.
Here’s what we tackled:
Data Migration
We imported products, customers, and orders from Magento to Shopify.
Theme Strategy
We cloned a Silver Ponies built Shopify theme and customized it for Kratom Country.
Brand Layering
Fonts, colors, and rounded buttons were applied to reflect the original Kratom Country design.
Content & Navigation
We restructured menus, sanitized collections, and refined product detail pages.
Review Platform
Reviews were migrated from Yotpo to Judge.me while preserving the visual layout.
Accessory Pages
We used Replo to quickly build out supplementary pages without lengthy development cycles.
The idea was that we wanted the lowest friction for existing loyal customers in using the new website, while also giving them new features to search and discover products.
We also implemented:
- Instant search and collection filters to enhance product discovery
- Klaviyo for marketing automation
- ShipStation for order fulfillment
- Google Search Console redirects to prevent broken links and SEO loss
Before launch, we completed full end-to-end testing and handled DNS updates. Post-launch, we ran a backfill import to include recent orders that came in after our original data migration — resolving any gaps in customer order history.
Results
In just 5 days post-launch, the new Shopify store saw strong performance, boosted by targeted Klaviyo emails and a small promotional discount to encourage first-time purchases on the new platform.
Operationally, the migration was a win across the board:
- Speed-to-launch: Delivered in less than half the planned time
- Platform alignment: Now mirrors the business processes for the Shopify backend which the team are familiar with
- Customer continuity: Maintained brand familiarity and data continuity
- Analytics uplift: MS Clarity and GA4 now provide screen recordings, heatmaps, and journey data for the team to study and optimize
The team now has a future-ready platform that can scale with confidence and convert with clarity.
